“Waiting On You” is the brand new offering from young First Nations singer-songwriter, Stewart Barton … and its one that comes straight from the heart.
Stewart was inspired to write the song after sitting at home alone one evening, waiting on a call from that special someone, wondering if she would ever find the time to reach out. Knowing she’s away and may be unable to return his call – he holds hope that she feels the same.
Stewart played the track to his good friend – Michael Bond from Brewn the night before he was scheduled to record three other tracks with renowned producer, Matt Fell. After hearing the track, Michael insisted that this track should make the list to be recorded the very next day. Matt Fell agreed and “Waiting On You” was born.
Born in Australia’s capital, Canberra, Stewart grew up surrounded by music. Determined to become a guitarist, he taught himself the basics and developed his skills through programs for emerging Indigenous artists in the ACT region and studying the Keith Urban online program, “30 Songs in 30 Days”.
Citing influences from both the country and rock worlds such as INXS, Troy Cassar-Daley, Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams and Luke Combs, Stewart’s music was always destined to tell stories of what he knows and where he comes from.
Already he has been making a huge impression on the music industry.
“He’s got an easy style and a natural likability about him which will serve him well”, says music industry legend, Ian “Dicko” Dickson.
“Stewart’s energy on stage is infectious”, added KIX Country’s National Content Director, Justin Thomson while Bill Chambers said he “was immediately impressed by his professional attitude and the way he engaged his audience”.
Judging from the early industry raves and audience enthusiasm, Stewart Barton, is one of the hot new Australian artists to keep an eye on!
