Born in Canberra, Stewart grew up surrounded by music and was determined to become a guitarist. Initially self-taught, he developed his skills through programs for emerging Indigenous artists in the ACT region and studying the Keith Urban online guitar program “30 songs in 30 days”. Completing these with the strong support of his family and his community, he gained enough confidence to start performing at local talent shows.

Stewart has drawn from many Acoustic Folk, Country and Rock influences such as Keith Urban, INXS, Paul Kelly, Troy Cassar-Daley, Zach Bryan, Brooks & Dunn, Kim Churchill, Bruce Springsteen, Brian Adams, Kip Moore & Luke Combs plus many more including pub rock acts.

Stewart’s abilities were already very apparent when he performed at an Open Mic event in Queanbeyan, NSW, run by Michael Bond from Country Rocks. Michael was blown away by the raw talent Stewart displayed, despite finding out he was only 15 years old. Shortly after, Stewart was offered a development opportunity under the Country Rocks Spot Light program. This program has helped Stewart develop his craft and given him the opportunity to work with, and appear on stage with, many Australian Music names, such as Drew McAlister, Travis Colins, Hayley Jensen, Brad Cox, Bill Chambers, Amber Lawrence and the great Tommy Emmanuel.

Stewart has built a pathway and has now performed on many stages around Australia and has supported some of Australia’s biggest acts in the biz including Darryl Braithwaite, Thirsty Merc, The Black Sorrows, Brian Cadd, Busby Maru, Adam Brand, Ice House and Yothu Yindi.! Just naming a few! Stewart has played on festival stages such as Tamworth country music festival, the Country Rocks Festival in Bungendore 2021-2023, The Multicultural Festival 2019-2023 in the ACT, Performing the National Anthem for the opening of the PBR in Queanbeyan, Performing beside touring and supporting Drew McAlister along with countless winery & pub performances. With versatility Stewart has become a very charismatic performer delivering a high energy and entertaining show. It’s easy to say that Stewart is one of Canberra’s finest’s act!

After developing his skills from this experience, Stewart was invited to sign with Country Rocks Records and start his recording career. He then released his debut single “Your Are Beautiful’ music produced by Matt Fell & Stewart at Love Hez studios in Sydney and vocals with Gordon Wood at Gordon’s Studios in Queanbeyan. The track brings a Country Rock sound like no other, combining a modern Nashville Country Sound with an old school Aussie Pub rock feel, together with an edgy Country Rock mix. It then went to hit #2 on Itunes and the #1 downloaded song on radio for 2 weeks!

The ‘You are Beautiful’ Music Video was filmed and directed by Duncan Toombs at the Filmery. A ‘Tip Your Hat’ clip to the Australian classic “Run To Paradise’ featuring Aussie legend Choir Boys lead singer Mark Gable. The music video reflects Stewarts likability, charisma and live energy.

Followed by the second single “Waiting On You” which has quickly become a fan favourite.

Stewart has a massive future in the music industry and this is only the beginning of something huge. He is looking forward to many more single releases along with his forthcoming debut album. Backed by the ever growing list of music industry family members, Stewart Barton is the Australian artist to follow, watch this space.
